Hello Friends!
It has certainly been a while. Since I last posted, I have been accepted into the group going to Swaziland in May 2011, and have finished my first semester of my junior year. What a busy one it was, too! I spent weeks teaching the students I came to love and am now home for another week before I do it all again.
A lot has been on my mind over this break, and it seems insane to me that I've already been home for three weeks. The time has flown! Kim flew back to Denver yesterday and I'm using my remaining 10 days to make a little more money and work a little on school projects. I'm applying to student teach this semester so I'm trying to get as much of that application done as I can while I don't have other work to do.
When I head back to school I will pick up all of my old responsibilities, Sudan Fellowship, Orange Movement, Swaziland trip, and of course, school work. Hopefully I'll find a minute to relax before I have to start all over again!
Blessings,
Kelly
138 days until I leave on my African journey!

Swaziland
I'm currently taking a break from filling out an application that will potentially (hopefully) change my life.
Missions have never been for me. I've waved goodbye and welcomed my sister home at the Portland Airport more times than I care to count from places all over the world. I love supporting her and other missionaries through prayer and hearing their stories of blessings and redemption, but have never desired to experience that myself.
Over the past three months, that has changed. God has changed me. He sent people from all over the world to talk to me this summer about their lives, the important of missions, and Africa. How blessed am I? God gave me a personal invitation to go and work in people's lives!
But I get ahead of myself. I am working on an application that will take me to Swaziland, Africa for two whole weeks. A mission field where the life expectancy is 40 years old and with the highest percentage of population with AIDs in the entire world. In Swaziland lies an orphanage where God has big plans for my change and others as well.
I will update more on my journey in future posts, but just wanted to share how incredibly excited I am about this opportunity to help people and change my perspective of the world.

The Makings of an Interesting Year
Hello to anyone who may be reading this!
I've discovered that I really love reading people's blogs. There's just something really wonderful about keeping up with others through such a simple means. So here I am, laying in my bed listening to Michael Buble' and contemplating life. I have a pretty substantial test in the morning yet here I am.
This year I am preparing for student teaching by doing methods and practicum classes. I take a course for 10 days and then teach in a school in the area for another 10 days. It is pretty intense! I had to remind myself today that I have barely been in school a month! I have already gone through my math methods and practicum and am now in Language Arts, which is much more to my taste. As well as those classes, I am in Foundations of Reading and Children's Literature which take up quite enough time on their own.
Needless to say, my class schedule is a little more than I am used to. Coupled with that, I am still co leading Sudan Fellowship; playing tennis; accepting a leadership position for the Orange Movement; and am a Student Mentor! I'm definitely on my toes this semester. Thank goodness I have my daily devotions to keep my sane as well as many wonderful friends.
I've already had the opportunity to go away for the weekend for a break and it was much needed! On the drive, we found some zonkeys (zebra donkeys!) and had ourselves a little adventure!

I'm having a truly awesome year so far and it really only has been a month!
If any of you reading this would like to know what is really on my heart, I have been praying for the last month about a mission trip opportunity to Swaziland, Africa this summer. I would gladly accept any prayers about that and will keep you all updated!
In Christ,
Kelly
